Integral colour
Colour pigment mixed into the concrete before it's poured.
Decorative concrete covers a genuinely wide range of looks and price points, from a simple colour tint through to a full stamped pattern designed to resemble pavers or stone. The options below explain how each technique actually works, so a decision can be made on what suits the space.
Colour pigment mixed into the concrete before it's poured.
A paver or stone look stencilled into the surface, a faster, lower-cost alternative to full stamping.
Patterns pressed into the concrete while still workable, for a paved or stone appearance.
Ground and polished finish, mainly used internally.
The stone in the concrete mix revealed for texture and grip.
Integral colour is achieved by mixing colour pigment into the cement mix before it's poured, rather than applying colour afterwards. The colour runs through the full depth of the slab.
Stencilling is commonly used on driveways and patios: a stencil is laid over the fresh concrete to create the look of pavers or stone. It's a faster, more cost-effective way to get a similar visual result to stamping.
Polished concrete is mainly used for internal spaces and benchtops. It's a ground and polished finish that offers a cheaper, lower-maintenance alternative to natural stone like marble or granite, with a comparable look.
